From the beginning LinkMe want to have an agile-focused workflow which can help developer to develop faster and launch to the market. With their confident marketing strategies, They were focused on designing the infrastructure which can sustain a great load. At the same time they want to have system completely secure and cost optimised.LinkMe's entire team is mostly remote and they work 24/7. They needed a system which should be self healing, proactively altering, well configured with logging and monitoring.

The Solution

Containerized Microservices

The LinkMe backend comprises numerous microservices hosted on Amazon ECS. ECS is configured with a mix of public and private load balancers, enabling the backend to automatically scale up or down in response to varying traffic loads. This ensures optimal performance during peak usage while minimizing costs during lower usage periods.

MySQL Aurora Database

RDS Aurora with MySQL is employed as the primary database for LinkMe. It is configured to scale efficiently for both read and write operations, ensuring high availability and performance during heavy traffic periods. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly with other components of the infrastructure to support data consistency and reliability.

OpenSearch

Integrated OpenSearch allows for advanced search functionalities on the user feed. This ensures quick and accurate retrieval of content, improving user experience and enabling efficient exploration of the platform's features.

CI/CD Implementation

To maintain agility and efficiency in the development process, CI/CD pipelines were implemented. These pipelines enable developers to push changes to production without disruptions, ensuring zero downtime deployments for backend updates and fostering a streamlined development lifecycle.

Cost Optimization

While designing the application and infrastructure, cost optimization was a key focus. The microservices architecture significantly reduced operational costs, making it more economical than running two large EC2 instances. This strategic approach maximized value while minimizing expenses.

Enhanced Security

Handling a real-money application comes with the critical responsibility of ensuring security. The infrastructure was designed with advanced security measures, including stringent access management, detailed logging, and secure secrets management. These measures guarantee a secure environment for both users and the platform.

Logging, Monitoring & Alerting

Given the simultaneous development of multiple projects, AWS SSO and AWS Organizations were implemented for better account management. These tools enabled efficient handling of both POC and production environments while enhancing logging, monitoring, and alerting capabilities. This ensured smooth operation and rapid issue resolution across all projects.
